Unreal Engine 5 empowers artists to achieve unprecedented levels of detail and interactivity, and brings these capabilities within practical reach of teams of all sizes through highly productive tools and content libraries. Join Technical Director of Graphics Brian Karis and Special Projects Art Director Jerome Platteaux (filmed in March 2020) for an in-depth look at "Lumen in the Land of Nanite" - a real-time demonstration running live on PlayStation 5 showcasing two new core technologies that will debut in UE5: Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry, which frees artists to create as much geometric detail as the eye can see, and Lumen, a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes. Also present in the demo are next-gen features already available in Unreal Engine 4.25, such as Niagara VFX improvements, Chaos physics and destruction, animation system enhancements, and audio advancements. Unreal Engine 4.25 also includes support for next-gen consoles. Learn more at 🤍
Unreal Engine 5 has finally been released, and whilst professional and amateur developers move beyond early builds of the 3D creation tool, to get to grips with its full version, we thought we’d take another look at the tech demos out there. As before, the unparalleled realism, immersive lighting, and photo-realistic texture effects have us spellbound. It’s hard not to get too swept away by some of these demos, as it remains to be seen how the intricate environments demonstrated here will be incorporated into video games that’ll run smoothly at high framerates.

Much like how a good vehicle engine is paramount to how a car functions and performs, game engines serve a similarly integral purpose in game development. Epic's Unreal Engine has been at the forefront of gaming technology and modern rendering for years at this point, and its latest in line - Unreal Engine 5 is no different. From its Lumen lighting system to Nanite rendering to easier implementation of photogrammetry, the Unreal Engine 5 has no shortage of impressive features. That said, to us gamers - what matters the most is how developers utilize these feature sets to create never-before-seen experiences in gaming. To that effect, here are 10 Unreal Engine 5 games that look insane.

A great wave of graphical performance is cresting now Unreal Engine 5 is on the horizon. For the uninitiated, Unreal Engine 5 is Epic’s real-time 3D creation tool, with this latest edition promising ‘game-changing fidelity.’ What does this mean for us gamers? Well, we can expect unparalleled realism, with immersive lighting and texture effects to unprecedented levels of natural detail. We’ll talk a lot about Unreal Engine 5’s new features throughout this rundown; in particular, Lumen and Nanite. Lumen is UE5’s ‘dynamic global illumination’ system, achieved by utilising a global, natural light source to enhance the believability of a game’s setting. Nanite is a system which boosts geometric detail, meaning textures and surfaces from film-quality art sources can be rendered in real-time. Credits are in the pinned comment below.
Epic's Unreal Engine has always remained at the forefront of modern rendering techniques and technology for decades at this point now. Whether it's smoothing out jagged edges of surfaces in games like Unreal Tournament, or implementing ray-tracing for realistic lighting in Unreal Engine 4, Epic's software development offerings have remained at the cutting edge of real-time graphics. After a fair bit of anticipation and excitement, we finally have the latest iteration of the engine - the Unreal Engine 5 which is now available to all developers to use in their games.

Epic's Unreal Engine has been at the forefront of modern rendering techniques and graphical effects for decades at this point, and its latest rendition the Unreal Engine 5 is no different. Released very recently to all developers, Unreal Engine 5 is bringing a slew of astonishing visual features that when used smartly in conjunction with each other can result in games that look way better than what we have seen during the last generation. After all, it's not for nothing that many AAA developers are abandoning their in-house engines for Epic's shiny new Unreal Engine 5. In addition to the usual assortment of AAA releases, Unreal Engine 5 has surprisingly been popular amongst indie and AA development studios. In this feature series, we have looked at many such promising titles including the likes of Black Myth: Wukong, ILL, Wronged Us, and many more. Today, we will be looking at Project M - an ambitious narrative adventure from Korean developer NCSoft. To that effect, we ask - what the hell is actually Project M?
Epic's latest and greatest, the Unreal Engine 5 is now available to all developers. The engine offers a wide array of tools and technologies such as the likes of ray-tracing, Lumen, and Nanite, among others which can make current-gen games look absolutely jaw-dropping on a visual level. At the same time, Unreal Engine 5 has also proven to be a flexible tool for game development, which has led to a ton of awesome fan projects by passionate developers. To that effect, here are a few such examples of Unreal Engine 5-based fan projects that will blow your blow. Please note that most of these fan projects are just concept demonstrations, and are not to be mistaken for upcoming releases of the same. Also, this feature is part 2 of the series - so do check out the first part in the description below. With that out of the way, let's begin. Link to Part 1: 🤍 Thumbnail credit: TeaserPlay
